This hack will help you keep your strawberries fresh and they will last much longer in the fridge, around a week or two.
Here is all you need:
- White vinegar
- A Colander or salad spinner
In a larger bowl, mix 1 part white vinegar and 5 parts water in a large bowl.
Add the strawberries to the mixture to soak for a few minutes. The vinegar will remove the mold spores and bacteria, that usually lead to the spoiling of the fruits.
You will be grossed out by the look of the water afterward.
Then, just dry the strawberries well, using some paper towels, into a salad spinner, or simply leave them to air dry in a colander. They should be completely dry, in order not to get moldy. Next, just place them on a paper towel, and store them in the refrigerator.
Note that you should not worry, as the fruits won’t taste or smell like vinegar afterward. Furthermore, in order to extend the life of your strawberries, you should not remove their stems until you are about to consume them.
